Big Rubber under Monaco
Hi there! I'm Mike and I've got a real rusty 68 Monaco and a 65 Fury. Trying to get 235-15 Cragar magged Michelin rubber under the Monaco rear, but it won't fit between the drum and the inner fender lip (rear). Any tip on fitting big rubber on this ride? Appreciate any fix or techniques. Drop the shocks to get the axle to lower? Sounds drastic or deflate the tire, it's about 10" wide. It seems about an inch too wide to slide in.
Later, also need some used body/engine parts for both cars. Any good sources? Thanks I'll post pics later. ExRacer out |

alright, if its just barely running the inner fendre lip, you can roll it in. on an a-body, itll give you an inch. i dunno about your monaco.
take a piece of wood (wrap it if the paints nice) and place it on the outside of the quarter. take a hammer, and slowly bend the lip up towards the fender do it gradually, over the entire radius of the wheelwell. sometimes youll have to make a small cut at the bottom of the wheelwell to make it bend right, but ive never had to do it (knock on wood). that will give you some added clearance. it sounds like youtre having problems aactually sliding the tire into the wheelwell. if thats the case, and you have to drop the shock to get it in, imagine what changing it on the side of the road will be like. if you make the problems a little clearer, ill be able to provide better tips and suggestions. mike |

A good hardwood baseball bat works too. Place the hittin end in the well and roll it with pressure to fold the lip flat against the quarter side of the well. with the same stipulations dusterbd laid out. work the entire well and use some sort of padding if the paint is nice- Just another option for you.
How about a different offset on the wheel? would that help. i would think a 235-15 would fit a C body- but I am not familiar with the 68's. |

Results?
Thanks guys. It's a swap meet Cragar with mucho offset outside towards the outer lip, and I'm sure that's part of the prob. Appreciate your feedback.
