Default Compression results....comments?

I just completed a compression test of my '72 'Cuda 340 4bbl. Knowing this was the first year of low compression, I was not expecting much. Tha car appears VERY stock. Anyway, you guys have a lot more experience then I and I would appreciate any remarks or comments on my results. Thanks.

Cylinder
1-110 psi
2-115 psi
3-108 psi
4-115 psi
5-100 psi
6-105 psi
7-110 psi
8-105 psi

I understand it is better when they are close rather than one way low. These were obtained from a well used compression tester, but I have no reason to doubt the readings.

Thanks for any responses and your time!

Not a warm engine. All plugs out, and untouched carb....Will these things make a big difference?

easy: you need to warm up that motor then let cool some and run the tests. the rings need to get good and hot to expand and the oil coming up will give you the correct reading also hold that pedal wide open for the most air.

The old rule of thumb was 10% difference between the high and low. Shoot a couple of shots from an oil can into the spark plug holes and run the check again. If it raises the figures substantially the rings are getting tired. If the numbers remain pretty much the same, you are good to go!
