Question What next?

My '98 R/T is starting to get a little reputation around here. Unfortunately I'm not done yet! I have the simple modifications that I thought would give me the best gains. I have an Iceman, Mopar Performance computer, and an AFX Underdrive Pulley. I have also swapped to Mopar Performance motor mount and bobble strut. It runs 10.01 @ 69 mph in the 1/8th mile (about 15.5-15.6 @ 90 in the quarter) which was more than enough to take out all the imports I've met at the strip including a modified CRX, modified Prelude, and a Subaru Impressa RS. In fact the only FWDs that have beaten me are the supercharged Grand Prixs and of course my and other turbo Dodges. (I can live with that! ;-) ) So what change should I be looking at next? I don't want to take the engine apart yet as it only has 37,000 miles. What is the next big gain to be found for a reasonable amount of money? I'm ready to start whupping on the V8s like my Shelby Lancer did.

Nice looking car, have you upgraded your throttle body yet?, if not i suggest you find a tb from an auto neon and put it on, the stock manual ones are 49mm while the auto's are 52mm i have one on my car, its easy to put in, and it will make a noticible gain, it should cost about $50,. another thing i would consider is a header check out www.blackdogmotorsports.com they have a real nice header, kinda pricy but from what i heard its worth the price. or you could get a mopar one.

I've thought about the auto thottle body but I've heard that throttle response suffers. That's one of the strong points of my car and I'd hate to take away from it. I've also heard that the larger you go, the worse it gets so maybe a small upgrade to an auto one wouldn't be that bad.

Well i switched mine to the auto one and i didn't feel any loss in the throttle response. I really think that you will like it if you do do it.

Actually with a larger throttle body, throttle response is much better, especially if you have an aftermarket computer. You can get 56mm throttle bodies from Modern Performance www.moderperformance.com Or 55mm throttle bodies from Howell Automotive www.howellautomotive.com You could also "carefully" open up the inside of the runners in your intake manifold a bit with a Dremel Tool.

Doing anything like that in which helps you get more air into the engine is going to produce a lot more hp and torque, even with a naturally aspirated engine. However, yes larger gains are possible when doing these same mods to a turbo motor.
