Keisler Transmission
I'm thinking of installing a Keisler 5-Speed Overdrive ( wwww.keislerauto.com ) in a '70 Challenger. Is there anyone here that has done this or has any thoughts on the subject?
Thanks for your thoughts/suggestions Bam |

All I have heard was raves about it. Except the price. It is a little pricey. But if I had the bucks, I'd do it!

what's the torque rating on these trannys, and what kind of shifter can you top them with?

That's even more over priced than the Keisler.

Didn't say it was cheap but if I had a car that was completely done and had some spare money to still throw into it that's what I'd get. You can run 3.91's or 4.10's and then flip on the .78 ratio for that highway cruising. Sounds neat if you have the money for it.

I'd go with a Viper tranny, before I did the Keisler or the Over-drive unit.

I too am looking at the 5 speed keisler. Being its an overdrive bolt in for A bodies, makes it really appealing to me. And the gearing compared to the 4 speed is better. Yea its not cheap, but for what it looks like...it might be worth it.

keisler 5 spd
The "updated Tremec" 5 spd is good to 650hp,maybe more,it is an awesome set up,having 3 shifter locations itll fit nearly anything, they can also adapt a pistol grip to it!!,it comes complete with flywheel, bellhousing, trans, mount and shifter and sometimes they throw in a free driveshaft, around $2800,its not cheap but its still a good option in my opinion,oh yeah they also have a hydraulic throw out brg available,,,.................PRO..........

Like to cut your floors?
I was seriously considering putting one in my 72 Duster, so I gave them a call. I noticed something on their web site that had me a little worried. They put in big letters that there is NO CUTTING. But when you read the full text it says no cutting of the torsion bar support (or something to that effect). So I called and asked what you need to cut. The shifer doesn't come up through the stock location for an A-body. I was told that they were developing thier own trans hump for A-bodies.
Maybe the guy I talked to was mistaken (I hope so), but that is what I was told. I'd call and check about this before ordering one for any car. |
