Welded 308 Heads
I ordered a set of 308 heads ,bare from Arrow 200.00 each. Turns out they were welded across the seats of one chamber of each head. They guaranteed them not to leak but never said anything about them being welded. Although I never asked if they were repaired, (mistake on my part). I have to use castiron exhaust that are rear dump so I chose the magnums , along with the 308's I figured would be a good combanition(exhaust port line up)The rules don't allow porting , no modifications ,no hand grinding, no cutting spring seats , no changing intake bolt angle(no Magnums/vortex ) but can install oversize valves to save heads. So to take advantage of rules like the chevy guys do I'll need to install oversize intake valves and do the throat cuts . But will the cutter even go through the welding? Will the cutter open up the crack that was welded? Should I just go 2.00? Should I try and send the heads back and lose the 114.00 shipping? Any suggestions? To buy new (269) about 380.00 , which is the over counter replacement ,( maybe would of been better off.)

If you can't port on the heads, I'm not sure you'd gain anything at all cutting for bigger valves. Tough call on the heads...I know I'd be pretty dissappointed to buy heads only to find that they've been welded on.
What type of class is this? Have you actually gotten on the phone and talked to the track people about the 360 and .030 over deal? |
