AMC tranny question
I know this is not AMC chat, but did AMC's have tourqueflites in them?
My buddy has a few, and wants to know if he can stick a 318 in his 69 Rebel while we rebuild his AMC 390. Thought would try here before crawling under the car. thanks. 5th. |

Yes, some AMCs used TorqueFlites. I belived they used a different bellhousing bolt patern and some of the AMC 904s were called 999s - I think.

By the way. AMC is a Mopar. So you are definitely not out line asking AMC questions here.

My '71 Ambassador came stock from the factory with a 727, the case is not the same as on a Mopar but the internals are. As far as I know all of the later AMC trannies were recased Torqueflights. I don't think that a Mopar engine will bolt up to the AMC tranny.

A good place maybe to try might be some of the Jeep forums - jeepforum.com is one. These guys are always dealing with AMC to MOPAR to whatever issues.
