Question What suspension mod's have people done to the D??

I am looking for feedback on suspension modifications and pro's - cons to these mods.

I am personally running Bilstein Sports with the first rib of the front bump stop trimmed. I feel that the Rebound damping is WAY to light, compression could stand to be a little higher too... The trimmed front bump stop really helped out the nasty turn-in pogo problem though...

Is there a difference between the R/T bars and leaf's or is it all done in the shock??

Thanks for the input.

Driftin4:

How ya doin? To start, I have an R/T, which, in my opinion, has a mushy suspension. Also, I need the ability to tow. Truely, the R/T does not have this ability. The first thing I did was to install extra leaf springs. I then installed the Rancho 9000's. I got the remote with them too.

The ability to adjust the firmness of my shocks is fantastic. To do it on the fly is even better. In answer to your question about the differance between the R/T's and the rest, I'm hopin that it's only the shocks and tires. All of mine have been switched by now.

Default RS 5000

I just ordered a set of rancho RS 5000, both f/r.
I liked the way my friends '99 D 5.2 4x4 took those corners with the Rancho's.
I'll let you know once I've set the Rancho's up.

Did you run into any issues with the trimmed bumpstops? I noticed on mine that there is hardly any room on the compression before the lower control arm hits the bump stop.

Well, curiosity go the best of me so I hacked the bumpstops in half today, I gained about 1" of compression and it smoothed out the big bumps some....free mod unless you gotta buy a hacksaw.
