Default D Headers..... Again.

Howdy all:

Well, I'm still on this header kick. I still don't have them on #3 yet, but soon. I couldn't find any stainless steel Y-Pipes that would fit up to my DynoMax headers, so I gave up, and bought a set of Gibson SS headers. They're suppose to bolt right up to the OEM Y-Pipe. Now, as I hold my breath, I'm off to see when.

Oh, BTW, these are the oddest looking headers. Take a look at the picture.

Default odd looking?

the tubes look like that because they are equal lenght headers- you cannot have a tube cylinder #7 which is right next to the collector and be the same lentgh as cylinder number 1 with out adding tubing to make them all equal

Ugg, you should send them out to HPC to get them coated. Really lowers the underhood temperature and will add scavenging.....

scavenging - coat the headers - keeps heat inside exhaust tubes and scavenges-pulls the exhaust out more efficintly and faster-

Biggrin You can do it.

Just pull them off, send them out for coating, and reinstall. Won't take as long this time since you have experience.

Ugg, what kind of coating? Stainless steel seems to flake off fairly soon and with the HPC or JETHOT coatings you will see a significant benefit for very little money and it will add to the lifespan.

R/T:

I don't know, some kind of ceramic coating. Gibson said that they put on a ceramic coating, but I don't know if it was JetHot. They seem to do it for allot of different companies. I can't remember if they (JetHot) said that they did Gibson, when I talked to them.

Oh Well.
