I have a friend who is an engineering manager at a company. I showed him the aluminum main caps that could be put on a big block. He knows that he can make them. Questions: What alloy of aluminum are they made of? Anyone else try making them? Do they need to be heat treated? Any other suggestions? THANKS!

I cant really answer your ? but...I hope your not thinking of running them on a street motor as aluminum main caps fatigue in short order(compared to steel) and must be replaced rather frequently, the same goes for aluminum rods, most racers change them every 1-2 years depending on how many passes they make,if you really want and need better than stock main caps(over 600hp) try Pro-Gram Engineering....PRO...
