Post thermostats

I'm on my fourth thermostat on my 98.5 24 valve and I still can't get the temp to 190 on the road. It varies between 160 and 172. Then when you let it idle, the temp falls to 140 in about 10 minutes. This is in only 10 degree weather. Whats it going to do when we get the dreaded -20? When the temp drops to 140 the air coming from the heater is ice cold. I sure could use some advice. I do have the snap in grill and bumper inserts with the little holes in them. Thanks in advance. I hope everyone has a happy hoiday season.

Default t stat

i hate to tell you this but that is normal. the diesel is a cold running engine.you may have to partially block the radiator to help with heating up the engine. if see some of the big rigs in the winter and have covers over ther grill this is to help bring up the engine heat.
