Fastdartchester!!!! 318 Questions For You!!
Hi FASTDART-
I noticed in the post "what makes them swirl port" you replied and said you had a 70 dart with a 318 running 12.50's with a 318. That is what I am shooting for. I also have a set of ported and polished 302' casting heads with upgraded stainless steel 1.88/1.60 Indy valves and #990 springs good for .600" lift. My 318 is .030 over, KB silv-o-lite 167 pistons (10.3:1) Crane Hyd. Roller cam, split dur. 284/292 .513int/.528exh 110 center Melling HV oil pump RPM Air Gap intake 3310 Holley Vac. Sec. 750 Heddman Headers Stock Convertor ( I know ) 742 case 3.23 SG Fresh air'd hood (dual snorkel scoop functionalized) 904 TF with B&M shift kit in the street/strip mode 1969 Dart Swinger Back seat removed. besides a stall convertor in the 23-2800 range and a set of 4.30-4.56 gears what am I missing? The car runs REAL good. especially from 2300 on. I raced my buddies 93' Z28 that had been to the track the week before and ran a 13.7 @ 101 and we were door handle-to door handle the whole way. I would really like to talk to you, and thanks for all that look and give advice. I am staying with the 318 for now so please no "get a 360 stuff" ok? thanks swinger321 |

Swinger, how about you? Do you have a set of flow numbers from your ported 302 heads? Thanks

Flow Numbers..Nope, But wish I did.
Sorry I wish I had someone around here that had a flow bench too. I am very impressed with these heads though. Wouldn't trade them for a set of X's unless I had a killer 408' stroker 360 sitting there needing some heads. They are perfect for a 318 because of their 53cc Combustion chambers. I would really like to hear some more about them though.
Just my opinion. Swinger321 |

53 cc
Swinger321
I have never cc'd a chamber on a '302 head. Did you have the heads milled or is that 53 cc a stock volume? I had to mill my 273 heads .040" to get to 60.0 cc. I could get a wee bit more squeeze by going to a '302 head over a 273 head! Your engine sould be more than enough to ge a 12.50 in a 69 Dart. It seems to me that your combination should really show signs of life in the 4000 to 6000 rpm range. I don't know how much street driving you do, but a 3500 converter should match your car, engine, and 4.56 gear pretty well. Billy |
