Default 4-speed transmission

Found a 4 sp trans (23-spline) that comes with a 10 1/2 clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, bellhousing, and competition plus shifter (tall) w/complete linkage that came out of a 71 340 RR.

Anyone know if this setup will bolt up to my 70 383 RR w/o any modifications (know bellhousing may not).

Thanks in advance! Merry Christmas and God Bless to All!

It should all work but for the bell housing you will need a BB Bell and Flywheel.

It wouldn't hurt to take a few measurements before tearing into your car. Make sure that the shifter mounts in the same location. I believe some cars had it located right next to the body of the transmission and others had it located out on the tail shaft. You may also want to make sure that both transmissions take the same yoke. You shouldn't encounter problems with either of these since both cars are B-bodies but it never hurts to be overly cautious.

Plus, if you have the money, now would be a good time to have someone inspect the tranny before putting it into your car and finding out it's junk.

Merry X-mas....

The 318, 340 and 383 all use the same flywheel in '70-'71 so the only part that will need to be changed is the bellhousing.
