haven't been here in a long time so I hope this is still the place for this. Has anybody been able to convert an older shifter (mine is a 66 Charger) to have the rachet action of the newer ones(mine was a 74 RR)?? Any help would be appreciated. For anybody that remembers, no I haven't got the Charger motor back together yet...
Yeah I'm slow.....

I guess there is no way to do this unless I put in an aftermarket shifter. Anybody done this before??

Mauve,I have converted a column shift car to a slapstick before, youll need the mounts that are spot welded to the floorboard for sure, their alignment and heigth is critical so take as many measurements from the donor car as you can, youll need every bit of linkage including the pivot mount for the tranny. It was very time consuming but worked well, you might as well buy all new plastic bushings because there bound to go to pot in a hurry if your alignment is slightly diff than original, plus with loose shifter bushings its possible to reverse when going for neutral.....PRO..

I was afraid I would have to actually weld one of the shifter mechanisms to the floor. I was hoping it was just some kind of pin/spring arrangement that I could just install into my floor shifter. thanks
