Default what do you think?

Well New Years Eve is upon me and my family and we are partying. I can't help but to be here asking what you think. Happy New Years to ALL!!!

I finished up buttoning up the 88' 318 Last night (after the heads dropped a exhaust valve and I got it fixed with Indy Heads Valves and springs) I haven't cranked it yet, But MAN I can't wait!!!

Crown And Coke is the drink of choice for me tonight, and I am feeling it.

My Dart should run really well.

I wanna know........WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A 318 TO RUN A 12 sec. E.T. ???

Well I at least manage a 13?

88' 318
Holley 750 Vac. Sec. 3310
Rpm Air Gap
Crane Hyd. Roller Split 284/292 .513/.528 110
9.3:1 CR
Heddman 1 5/8 Headers
2 1/4 Duals w/ H-pipe
3.23 742 SG
904 TF w/ B&M shift kit
3025 lbs. w/ me in it
Stock 273 Stall convertor

Just wishful thinking huh?

Well guess 4.56's are in order and a 3000 R stall convertor.

Thanks and happy new year!!!!

I'm no expert but i'd ditch the heads and the pistons and go for anything that will raise the comp.

Need larger diameter headers and more gearing.Torque converter stall will need to be higher. With more compression, this engine has the potential to run in the 11's.

If that combo goes 11's I'm driving mine off a cliff! Need more gear, converter, maybe a 2.5 inch exhaust system, more cubes, etc. Which heads did you get from Indy? I'm guessing low 14's.

SCAMP: Don't forget Swinger is looking for 12's, not 11's. being a 318 devotee (9.2: 1 comp) I'm not sure the cubes is such a big issue. I agree whole heartedly that the comp has to come up, and the aspiration and exhaust will have to be maxxed out. Knowing what I do about 318 heads, I'm sureeveryone's first thought was w5 heads, quick!!!! As for gearing etc i'll leave that to the racers!!

Dragstrip Plus program (with a few guesses about tiiming, valve size, etc.) puts you @ 13.91 with almost a full second off if you do a generous port on the heads and go with a med. rise single plane intake instead of the dual plane RPM. Not my guess, but theirs. This was estimated at 75 deg. temp, 780 elevation with 24.5 tires. Any help? I agree about the comp ratio, BTW. Good Luck!
