Default Dart Torsion Bars

I have a 68 Dart 270 slant/6, i just built a 360 to put in it. I am changing the K-Member to a V-8 K-Member. I want to know if the slant/6 torsion bars will work ok with a Small Block. I'm making it a daily driver, and a weekend strip car. Will the small torsion bars cause tread wear, also any tips for my engine swap or suspension appreciated

The /6 bars will allow a quicker transfer of weight, which is good for the ΒΌ. The /6 bars won't be that great when cornering on the street

They will work fine, but don't expect the car to corner like a slot car.It won't be bad.Make sure while the engine is out that you check the whole front end.If the lower control arm bushings are shot,NOW is a good time to replace these. This is the major reason why a Mopar "can't hold a front end alignment".

If you do not already have the new K-member you can use a conversion kit from Schumacher. It will cost you about $150 but is a breeze to do, I used one on a 72 duster for a 225 to 318 conversion.
You can get more info and pricing info at there web page.

Just so ya know, I upgraded to bigger torsion bars and redid the front end, seemed like a good idea since the motor was out.

My car was also originally a /6. The "K" member was changed, but with an older one. Still no sway bars. While I would recommend taking the time to do all of your bushings while the "K" member is still out of the car, I would also agree that heavier torsion bars are a bonus for street use. You can get H/D torion bars (#2 rating) froom PST for about $229 for the pair. Also a good place to get the bushing kit. While your there, GET THE SWAY BAR! It will probably make the single most dramatic difference in the handling for you. Mopar Muscle in 12-01 and 1-02 issues has a 2 part segment on front ends in the "A" bodies. Good Luck and Enjoy!
