I don't know if there are any changes, but you should by the manual directly from chrysler. It's a little more expensive at 90 beans.......also, look for a sticker in your glove box, it should tell you there about your tranny pkge

I think most of the changes are cosmetic inside and with the steering (2k has rack and pinion). You probably have the 44RE or 45RFE, not sure but definitely not the 46RE that comes with the 5.9.

Buy the factory manual, better than a Haynes.

I believe that all 318`s use the 44RE trannie. 2K 4X4`s use R&P steering. but I don`t know about the 4X2.

Default Difference in between D's

Saleen,

Your D has the 44RE transmission. The 45RFE comes with the 4.7L and the 5.9L uses the 46RE.
AS for other changes, the tachometer gets an orange color in the "redline", since the 99's had just red markings starting from 4850RPM all the way to 6000. Just look at a 99 and 2000 D dashes and youll see what I am talking about.
Also, the 2000 D's got their water resorvoir in the fan shroud assembly, and it holds a bit more water capacity.
The 2x4 D's do have rack and pinion steering also. AS for seating designs, the 2000 D also eliminates the "suede" on the SLT+ group. The 99's had both suede and leather, similar to a R/T.

I also own a 318 2x4 2000 SLT+ D.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Regards,

-Fern
