Does Anyone have any tips on how to launch a 318 automatic(904)? Every way I have tried just results in a cloud of smoke. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
Thanks |

A couple of questions:
Is your engine modified? Do you have a bigger than stcok stall converter? Are you on Street Tires? Is this a the strip? Do you have any traction aids? How fast does your car go? What kind of car is this? Jason indychamp@hotmail.com |

I suggest what you need is practice. Find a secluded area near you, like an unoccupied industrial building & use their parking lot to practice. Preferably at the rear of the building.
Try such things as changing the air pressure in tires, load the torque converter to different RPM's, roll out then stab, more gas in the tank etc, etc. If you are scientific about it bring a note book, tape measure, & an observer. You'll get it figured out soon enough. :-) Just don't spend too much time in any one parking lot unless real secluded! I painted 56 pairs of marks in one parking lot over several weeks, before deciding to never use that one again! |

I had the same problem. SS springs helped a little. You need stickier tires!!! You have alot of torque!!! You could actually go up in cam size, which will move your powerband to a higher rpm. I am sure you can use more power up there.
