Default 72 vs 89 318

Hey guys, I'm trying to put a 72 high rise 4bbl intake manifold on a 1989 dodge 318. The problem is the manifold seems too narrow. Where the manifold meets the heads, there is about a 16th of an inch space with gaskets in place. I'm not sure what the manifold was off of. The casting says 1972. It matches everything on the 2bbl manifold. I'm sure this is an easy one for you guys. Any help would be appreciated. I'm just trying to get a little more power for my Trailduster. Thanks.

Use thicker gaskets, doubled up on both sides. Or as needed. That should solve your problem.

what is the stock compression of the 72 318? how much would adding a set of 360 heads that have yet to see any love drop that compression down more?

On a 318;

From a approx. 8.5 with 65cc's to approx. 7.4 with 75 cc's and .040 gasket thickness up .020 from the stock steel head gasket.
