Default Squeal in the drivetrain

I have a squeal coming from underneath my 93 W250, that I think is a universal going south. When accelerating or decelerating I have a squeal in the driveline somewhere, but as soon as I apply the clutch and take all torque off the drivetrain the sound immediately silences. Seems all the universal joints I have heard going out have made a clicking sound. This kind of has me baffled. I have ruled out everything else I can think of. Can anyone think of anything maybe I've missed or give me any ideas???

Yep, sounds like you're on the right track. Is it a quick squeak-squeak that increases rapidly from a standing start? Have you greased them at all? If not, try to grease them one at a time, then you'll find it. If you replace them- go with spicers.

Default Thanks

Thanks Wayne,
It is the kind of squeak you describe. I have greased them all, but has not gotten rid of the squeak. I have looked for rust dust around them but have not seen any. I am going to get working on replacing them very soon. Just hoping to get a warmer Ohio day!

Default Job competed

Replaced my rear u-joint to the rear axle today. It was worn bad. Took care of the squeal totally. Went with a Dana U-joint. Hope it holds up. Thanks for your input Wayne! And I even was blessed with a warm Ohio day to do it!

93 Cummins, you never said what your Mileage was. I'm @ 61K. And I haven't had any problems yet.

Wayne, I am right at 76K. My truck is a rough rider, but it is absolutely my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. Well, my 73 Beetle is close, but I don't consider that in the same category!
