Default 1970 challenger r/t

i was calling around the local junkyards in my area to locate a third member for the 8 3/4 in rear end in my 68 cuda. i stumbled onto a guy who has a brother in law who is trying to sell his 70 challenger r/t. now here are the specs on this car. it has a 340 high po in it, 4 speed and a dana 60 rear end. now i knew the 340 wasnt right for the car so i asked for the vin number. i ran it and it said its a 383 r/t. all of the web sites say that you couldnt get the dana in a 383 car. what my question is does anybody know if there were ever any challengers made that had 383s with dana 60s? probally not i figure, but gotta check just to make sure. now i am presented with a dilemma. i have my cuda. 440, auto, 8 3/4 inch rear, near perfect body, no rust, new paint. the challenger from what the guy is telling me ( i havent seen the car) its been sitting for a while. i dont know how long or what but at least a couple of years. the owner had it painted when he bought it. it probally has some rust, how bad i dont im waiting for some pictures, i should have them tomorrow night, but its a 4 speed and an r/t. it not being a 440 or hemi car its not as rare as i thought it was, but still pretty cool. so my dilemma is keep the cuda which is in great shape or go with a car the has a 4 speed and the beefiest axle ever put in a car, but needs some work to get it running and looking good. any opinions?

you have a 68 cuda..... make that an A-body with a 440. fast and light. going to the challenger is giong to be alot of work, but a car that is more attractive to more people.

let me ask you this... are you more interested on taking on another project car, or are you more interested in enjoying the project car that is just about finished? I personally would stick with the 68 because you have already put time and money into it. See it thru. And, you know 2 days after you would buy a clapped out challenger w/383, somebody is going to be selling a cuda AAR for $3000 asking....... why, just because it's the way it always goes. The best deal is around the corner you haven't turned yet.

when you go to look at the car, be sure to look from front to back. 4000 is a good price BUT iv seen some challengers for 4000 and in my opnion they wern't worth 2000. to much body work, alot of parts missing, ect. look, take pictures, go home and think about it. good luck.

yes i know. you get alot of that here. before i bought the cuda me and my friend went to look at a lot of cars guys would be asking 3000 for complete buckets. stuff i wouldnt pay 1500 for. we went to look at this 383 road runner, the guy wanted 2500. we got there it was on blocks, most of the body panels were rusted through, they couldnt start it, interior was shot. it was worth 1500 at the most, i probally woldnt more than 1000, but thats how it is out here. im expecting this car to be pretty bad off, but who knows i may be suprised.
