Question relocating leaf springs on duster

I would like to relocate my leaf springs inboard to accomadate wider slicks( 11" M/T E.T. streets). I currently have SS springs, moser axles and m/t e.t. 28x11.5x15 tires(approx 9" wide). My question is: will i compromise the strength of the housing moving the springs inboard without narrowing the entire unit? Also, will the 11" slicks fit with this move? Thanks for any input. Motor

I put 10.5 et streets on my 74 dart, and also a set of 275/45/17's for street driving, no prob. I also did the mini tub route along with the spring relocator kit. everythign fit easily. Moving the spring perches in 2" isn't going to make the axle week. They are some thick tubes, and that wont be a problem. Springs are always stuck so far out, to help with the car stabilty. gives it a wider base.

as for fitting.. if you don't do the mini tub.. that's something you are going to have to measure, and give extra clearance.. slicks change size alot, and you certainly don't want to slice the side wall. Also, backspacing is going to be a concern there too. you might need different offset rims to make it fit.. in which case narrowing the rear will be alot cheaper then 2 good new rims.

Thanks 1965 Hemiguy! I've had the kit sitting on my shelf for a while and wanted to tackle before my birthday next month. There are some really good tips in that article that will help me a lot as well. Good Luck to Motorhead on his attempt at this, and I'll share my results with you guys as well. Thanks again!

Hey Motorhead,
Haven't been to any shows or anything since I just moved back here in October. I am going to a swap meet on the 27th of this month. Went through LaPorte about Christmas time visiting relatives in WI. Email me and maybe we'll get together.
