Default 318 to 383 swap

There is a 383 with a 727 auto in the local paper.
Complete carb to pan
That would be nice in my 72 Satellite 318.
What extras would I need to make this swap ?
Fred..

Motor mounts, exhaust, radiator, engine wiring harness (will have to be modifed), and possibly the drive shaft may need to be changed. T-bars mat also be a good idea. The engine usued different mounting brackets for the accessories- be sure to get those-- That's all I can think of.

- But it is 8:30 am sunday here- I'm still sleepy

That should be a virtual bolt in if it has the accessory pieces, like p/s pump, pulleys, etc. The p/s hoses might be different, radiator outlet might be on the wrong side, possible fuel line routing, vacuum lines, heater hoses. Nothing really serious. The slip yoke on your driveshaft will probably be too small, but any equally powered B body of that vintage would have a complete driveshaft that would bolt in or you could possibly switch the yoke on your shaft.

Default 318 to 383 swap

Thanks for the info
My car is a Daily Driver
After buying the 383 it sounds it could cost me
a few dollars and time . I have a very good 318 so I'll stick the money in that. My goal is 300 HP. for my 318.

A 360 would almost be a direct swap in for your 318. If you decide to work your 318 up to 300 h.p., check my site, I have a dyno 318 build up. With ported 302 heads, it has 330 h.p., same motor with 360 heads came in at 290 h.p.(cheaper by a lot too). Overall has some great info on what parts to use.

Default I will keep my 318

Hello Tony
I have been to your Site before " GREAT SITE "
I have a good 318 and would LOVE a 360
BUT for the cost of a 360 I can buy a MP Cam and Weiand Intake for my 318. It's a daily driver idle to 4800-5000 rpm ,so I am going to a milder cam than you have on your Dynoed 318
P4452757 .410"/.425" lift . 248/256 dur 108 CL
I am also going with the 302 heads. I already have a 3.23 rear . It would not be a Neck Snapper but I will have FUN.
I hope this is a GOOD set up .
Any thoughts on my Plans ??
