Default another ignorant Chevy owner

I was at the gas station last week filling up my '69 RR, and a couple minutes after I went inside to pay a guy comes in and says "Cool, whose 'Cuda is that? That's a really sweet car!" I didn't know whether to be flattered or insulted. I told him "Well, I own the Road Runner parked out there..." and his reply was "Cool, man! Is it an SS?" and during my moment of speechlessness that followed he asked "What engine does it have? Does it have the 454?" Somehow I managed to force out the words "It's a 383". I'm sure he thought it was the ever-popular chevy 350 stroker engine.

I probably would have told him to get lost if he'd called it a Chevelle. At least he recognized it as a Mopar... I think.

You should asked him "What in the blue hell is a 454"

Man. I can't tell you how many times my 69 Coronet has been called a goat, or some other GM crap, by some idiot. I try not to let it upset me, just laugh about it.

You know why they had to abbreviate Chevrolet to chevy? You got it, most owners weren't smart enough to spell it out. Kind of goes without saying.

i've had my challenger called everything from mustang to camaro , but the general consensus is that it is one cool car.we've got three mopars in the family and one bad- ass 383 nova.personally i think the mopar or no car attitude sucks.

Default Being the jerk that I am...

"personally i think the mopar or no car attitude sucks."
I have to jump in on the this one. It's loyalty, pure and simple. No different from the people around my area who have been die hard Cleveland Browns fans for 30 years despite the fact that no one in the club is the same and the team was even gone for a few years. Tell them to root for someone else once in a while.
This is all I can say and stay polite.
- btw - I would be thrilled if I were to come across someone who could even guess at what mine is. About two out of three don't even wager a guess.

First time drove my '69 Satellite into town I ran into this! I pulled into a convience store get a drink and when i came out there was an older guy looking at the car.........

"What is this? Is it a Pontiac?"

The ole Plymouth shuddered, I felt it!

I just pointed to the 'Plymouth' emblem on the hood and left.

I hear ya! I can't count the number of times that shivvy people have stood in front of my car and asked "Is it a V8?" I smile and point to the 440 emblems on the hood scoop...

Default HUH?

Y'all are too sensitive! Give those guys just a little break. Chevrolet never made the amount of different models that Mopar made. Sometimes I look twice just to make sure I have the right name.

While I've been asked "What kinda Nova is that?" towards my Duster, for me the cake was taken tonight when I changed the oil pan on the car and found instructions for picking the right seals for a sb Chibby inside my Felpro gaskets on my SB Mopar. If someone wants to pay for and drive a Chevy, that's fine. But don't put advise and tips for them in my Mopar stuff. Keep it for them.

"Remember the Knight Rider!" is a line from the original "Mad Max" movie. I got it on tape.

I am pretty much MoPar or NoCar but I certainly do not limit my universe to knowledge of only one brand. I know a lot more about other brands than most other brand loyalists know about MoPar, that is a given. A "car guy" I work with (really just a Camaro guy) is always learning something about his hobby from me. He still does not know J.S. about MoPars but he is sure impressed with their history.

Default good lookin dodge

i just had to reply to this one.several years ago i built a 69 satellite and put the big superbird style "PLYMOUTH"DECALS ON THE 1/4 PANELS.when i took it to get it inspected a older guy at the station just kept tellin me how nice my DODGE was.(he was lookin directly at the 1/4 panel when he said it).i honestly think that alot of people think that plymouth was just another model of dodge. i thanked the old guy for the compliments. at least he didnt call it a chevy. as far as the mopar or nocar attitude, ifirmly beleive in mopar and thats all my family owns, but i respect all makes and i am not above using a blue ovary or genaric motors part if it will improve my hotrod(ive got gm efi and a ford tremac tko 5 spd in my 72 rr clone).i dont think i would bse a hotrod of mine from anything else besides a chrysler product though.

I fly my banner HIGH! It is going to be MOPAR or no car for me. Everybody knows how I feel, I have a driveway full of nuthin but mopars. I like that I always get a story on how they knew this Roadrunner or Superbee that use to do 180mph and smoke the tires on the interstate in 3rd gear at 80mph. I just have to chuckle. At least they know that we have "BAD BOYS"

Hey guys, don't beat down on the Chevy guys, i'm a bowtie guy.

But I have upmost respect for Mopar, thats why i'm here. The only thing else I would ever buy is a Mopar.

Remember, friends don't let friend's drive f**ds!

I have to take offense to certain things. I own the dakota pictured at the left and I guess if you took a glance it could look like an 80's ford ranger. One day after my buddys and I went four-wheelin I stopped over and talked to a friend of the family and noticed the oil pan gasket was leaking on my 3.9L. The guy looked at me and said I know of a just rebuilt 350 for sale. I asked what good would that do me? and he said that isn't a full-size chevy? I don't know what he was smokin but he doesn't know jack.

funny how stupid people can be isn't it.

Brian

Default What about Import?

An internet acquaintance of mine showed his 65 Cuda at a car show a few years ago where the participants did the voting.....of course as usual it was 98% Chebby's.
When the the award for Best Import was announced ....you guessed it.....he declined the award and left in disgust.

You would not believe how many of the younger generation come up my 66 Barracuda, "Cool Car, What is it?" and then of course they always ask "Is that a Hemi?"....standard answer..."Yup a 318 Hemi alright, that's what she is" and it runs on oxigenated blinker fluid.

I have Mad Max 2 and 3 on DVD and Mad Max 1 on Tape (they haven't seen fit to release Mad Max on DVD in Australia yet), and it's good to see you guys know it well.

But the Knightrider(in mad max- not the crap TV show) drives a Holden Monaro and Mad Max drive a Falcon Coupe (The blown car). The normal Pursuit Vehicles are falcon Sedans. In Mad Max 2 they destroy a few nice mopars. If you want I can screen capture them and tell you which is which.

All this aside they are still cool movies and with the way things are these days, never to be repeated.
