Calling all "Hoosiers" (not the tires)
Well, I posted this on another board and got a pretty good response with 47 replies.
Lets see how many "Hoosiers" cruise this board Just curious about how many members are from Indiana, and if they are racers, cruisers, collectors or what. Would like to see some pics of the Indiana members cars. 65 Coronet 500 daily driver. +.040 440, KB pistons, Isky cam, 6 barrel with nitrous. |

Reply to 60s Moparman
Hey 60's Moparman.
My son's 63 that is pictured in my post came from the Kokomo area and I was told used to be a bracket racer around Bunker Hill several years ago. Do you happen to recognize it, or know who owned or built it? I have been trying to find out and can't seem to get a consistent answer. Someone said they thought the guy that built it was a Bill Shipman, but they didn't know how to contact him. I use to race at Bunker hill every weekend back in the late 60s. Back in the days when it was ran by Jim Hollinger. I remember that he used to let various car clubs run the track on some weekends. Ah yes, the good old days. Do you know a Rob Jones that runs a Fuel altered? I think he races at Bunker sometimes. Dan |

I'm in LaPorte IN, i race at Oceola dragway, and Rt. 41 occasionally. I own a 70 Duster with 440, ross pistons, mopar .557 cam, muscle motors bracket killer heads, M1 intake, 4:30 gears, 727 manual valve body, turbo action converter. It has run a best of 11.63 at 115mph,and is street legal.
69440CUDA, i think i've been to your home, i am the one who owned the red floor shifted trans tunnel for a duster. I came down to see what was left of that duster in your yard. How are you doing? Fine here. |

re.65 coronet
Hi 65 coronet; I'm thinking your son's car might have belong to a fellow that used to drag race in the 60's it was a partnership car of Tom Seigfried and the other guys last name was Musial. You may be in luck if you want to contact Bill Shipman , he lives in Elwood In. not hard to find he has a welding bussiness, also he runs a fast and consistant 67 GTX at Bunker Hill. Yes I remember Jim Hullinger, he doesn't live too far from me,still kicking. The track is under a new owner and there has been many nice changes. Come on up to the Hill and look me up sometime, hell we might know one another Ebert

Well I wasnt born in Indiana(my younger bro was)but I lived in Indianapolis for 9 years and had my 1st mopar experience there at the tender age of 11,while walking home from school with my older bro we kept hearing a car burning rubber, corner after corner, finally it pulled right up to us and the passenger window rolled down only to reveal my Dad behind the wheel in this hemi orange 69 Charger R/T,440 auto, the words werent even out of his mouth before we were in the backseat.....burning rubber!! Currently Im driving a 65 Valiant 200,10.5:1 aluminum headed 360,4 spd,3.23s,every bolt on,tubbed, springs in,frames tied, fuel cell, disc, running a best of 12.58 @ 4600 ft on 91 octane thru the exhaust on dot"s.I also owe my basketball skills to Indiana although Im really a Cornhusker!!!...........PRO.......

60's Moparman, my actual comp is 9.7to1,the pistons are the 10.5to1 flattops. I wish i would have used the 12.5's, my cam choice is kind of limited to under .600 lift.

piston reply
Hey thanks motorhead; I'm thinking about ordering a set of Ross from Mancini but I need more c.r. than what your saying the flattops are so I'll probably get the domed. I'd like to be somewhere around 10.5 to 11.5
