Default first year for barracuda formula s?

hello all i was wondering if you all could help me. i just picked up a all original formula s car tonight (about 20 mins ago). i was told it was a 1964, it has a 273 4bbl,4spd,chrome breather, fancy valve covers, factory tac, red w/black racing stripe, still has the single exhaut with the tip, the only thing i can see thats not original is aftermarket air and slot mags. i paid a wopping $25 bucks for the car. anyone have any info on these cars? or where i can find the info. i'm not sure if i'm gonna keep it, part it, or sell it, will post a pic of it tomarrow.

65 was the first year for the s badges on the cuda , the cuda you got is 273 comando, it has all the goodies under the hood that an s car has... 235 hp 273 most of the early cars had a 7/14 rear, later they came with a 8 3/4 rear....it is possible that some late 64 cars got all the goodies and the s badges.. I had a 64 with a 273 235 hp car with 4 speed, a/c and a 7 /14 rear and it was a posi rear!!Chrome air cleaner, fin valve covers . It had no s badges, just the V8 comando on the fenders... You got a good score!!! at 25.00 bucks i'll take two please !! The 273 235 hp motor had some real nice parts , closed chamber heads, soild cam, a single plane intake and a 480 cfm afb, 11.1 comperssion pistons... the pistons had a cute little dome on them, steel crank.. it also came with a single hi flow exhaust system.. These little motors really screamed above 4000 rpm...Lee....

if i suck you swallow, just kidding.... the cars in pretty good shape, typical rust in quarters and floors, but car is 100%. a buddy from another salvage yard got it in today and asked if i wanted it. he was going to toss it in the crusher. i paid him scrap price for it. i'm gonna try and get it running tomorrow and take some pics of it. god i love saving these cars, the last time this same buddy called me he had a super stripped 70 gtx 4spd dana car no drive train but otherwise complete. a good friend has it now and it is almost done.

I have a 1965 that came with the 273HP engine and 4 spd. I have noticed in everything I've read this far that the pistons were 10.5:1 rating actually they weren't much more than 9:1 once you do the math. But I am interested in finding parts for my 7 1/4 in my 65 Dart GT 273HP automatic car. I would really like to find a posi-unit. If this little $25 Formula S can be bought send pictures and tell me how much.

1965, I got one and have been through every inch of it. Let me know if you need some info on it. Does it say Valiant on the trunk? If so it is a 64 model year. My '65 has a '64 build date so maybe you got a '65 4 bbl?. But you said you had a tach, that usually makes it a "S", also check for a 5 leaf spring. Everything you mentioned could have been an option. One more thing, a 64 model year has an ugly dash, not symetrical like a '65's 2 big guages. A formula S badge on the fender, there you go. I got mine for 800 and I was stoked, wow, 25 bucks....!

it does have the "s" badges on the fender and the dash does have two big squares. so guess its a 65 then, the main parts i saw that i will need for the car is a deck lid and a passenger side door. the rest of the rust is repairable. i havent lifted it up yet to check the frame yet though. under the hood and the firewall has no rust and the skirts are solid. if the frame is solid maybe i'll have it made into a nice driver for my 15 year old or make sure it goes to a very good home. keep your eyes open i'll post some pics friday
