Question 4448308 - 360 89/91 360 heads

I hope to find a set of the 4448308 heads. I have read these are a good head for pre-magnum engines. Does anyone have a set that aren't cracked and what about price? These head came on the 89 thru 91 360 truck and vans.

Did you check the 4sale section? Just might be there. Good luck with the hunt.

Yes I checked the for sale section, for the past 3 weeks, but havent seen anything, thats why I thought I'd ask. Maybe someone has a set laying around but aren't at the top list of their thinking. Thanks for the response.

In the MCG magazine you should find an ad (block type) where the guy wants $250 a set. I wished I had a MCG here at work with me and I could tell you more. I think I have one in the minivan, so I'll look at it at lunch.

Tarrbabe: I got mine in a junk yard, off a '91 van. The casting number is on the combustion chamber side of the head, so you cannot see it when the heads are on the engine. However, all non-magnum roller engines (89-92, a few '88) have the 308 heads. You can identify the roller engines by the oversize pushrod holes in the heads. Hope this helps. John

If you can't find them used, you can buy them assembled new as P/N-P5249459, or bare as P/N-P4529269. Though I haven't tryed this yet, I checked with the local parts house to see if I could get a rebuilt head for a 88-92 engine, and yes they do, and yes it is a different P/N from an earlier engine. Our local Auto Zone was quoting $179 each.

Default cc's on 308 heads

Thanks 9Dodge, that will help choosing the pistons for my 340. I am building a 340 for street use and the 308 heads should help finding pistons for my hunt. Most pistons are too high CR for street use and if I find the 308 heads, that should help greatly.
