I got the front end out of the aspen I bought for a subframe prodject for my 57 dodge prodject. would anyone know why the motor mounts aren't centered with the front end, and also who was doing the welding back in those days, I think i'll have to grind out most of them and re-weld them???

The engines in most Mopars are off-set about 2" to the passenger side to make room for the starter, exhaust, & P/S box. It's common in more than Mopars, too. If you're going to try to swap in rack & pinion steering, then I think you could center the engine, but otherwise I believe you'll run into some serious clearance problems using stock steering.
Good luck with the project & keep us informed as to it's progress. DB |

Thanks for the info, thats exactly what I measured was 2 inches offset. I want to use the existing aspen steering assembly, but looks like it'll be some serious modifying to my frame, the frame is sitting right above the steering gear with front end close to where I want it to be. Probably to be expected. Thanks again.
