Default Yellow Motors

Mopar never produced a 258 Slant Six. (sorry)

They did make special truck engines. (most were painted yellow)
These had a shot peened crank, double roller timing chain, high volume oil pump and stellite exhaust valves.
These engines ran about the same as the pass. car motors, they just seemed to last longer!
(how long does a SL6 "last" anyway??)

Thanks for the info. I was trying to figure out just what I have. I had been told the motor was bigger but could never find anything in any reference books to confirm. The /6 is in a '63 Dodge short stepside 1/2t p/u that belonged to my uncle in eastern Colo. My Dad has had it for 10+ years and I have inherited it as the Dodge was getting difficult for him to drive w/o PS or PB (Dad is 82). Dad found a '76 Maverick with PS, PB and automatic trans.
MR DODG is the MO historic plate on the truck.

Default 273 not /6

it most likely is an industrial /6 yellow was the color for them and the 273 was a v8 and youd know that cause it hase to valve covers (jk) If u r not interested in the motor you might want to post it for sale on some mopar sites or allpar.com you could sell it fast most /6 drag racers like myself want a ind /6 i beleive there called ind30's but im not sure of the name the componets are very strong when spinning extreme rpms around 7000. I would still like to get one bnut for now ill stick with my all forged 71 mill forged cranks are strong im not sure about the crank in the ind/6 but if your looking for parts try your local tractor or hyster forklift dealer they can usually get all the neccessary parts for the ind/6 goodluck
