Smoked a V-6 Camaro...
My dad and I were in town yesterday, and my dad had to do one thing while I did another so I got his pickup for a little bit. I had my g/f along and pulled alongside a newer Camaro, which was a deffinately a V-6. Anyhow, I was in the right lane and needed to get into the left-turn lane at the next intersection so I was planning on gunning it to get by him and over to that lane. The light turned green and I punched it but didn't floor it, well he jumped too so I floored it and the race was on. I wasn't exactly expecting to pull away from him, but I did! I was a couple car lengths ahead of him by the time I needed to switch lanes. MAN that felt good to kill a sports car with a big-heavy pickup, even though it was only a V-6!!
BTW, my dad's p/u is a '99 QC, 2wd, 360, 3.91 sure-grip, the only mods are a K&N filter, 8mm plug wires, and a Flowmaster. And no, my g/f wasn't upset that I raced him! |

Yeah, I've smoked a couple V-6 Camaro's and Mustangs as well. Doesn't it just make you feel good? You know they think their cars are pretty badass even though they only have a V-6...then they get whooped by a big heavy truck! I just love the satisfaction of showing them that their cars aren't that "sporty" after all.

Good Job!
But I bet the Camaro driver beats you in who pays the most for car insurance!

I'll give ya a run with my Camaro j/k
As far as the insurance goes, I pay more for my Ram than I do my Camaro. Maybe because the Camaro is much older, and the Ram is brand new Or it could be because the Z is listed as a recreational vechicle. Shawn |

I personally can't imagine getting excited over racing a V6 powered car with my Ram, no matter what kind of body it's in (except maybe a grand national, or an 89 turbo t/a). Both of those would smoke just about any Ram out there though.
To me it would be like me pulling up beside you in my Super Bee and winding out first and second gear, and that's V8 against V8. |

v6 camaros are Not that bad really. I used to own a 96 3.8l and it ran a 14.9@89 stock. And there are many 3.8s in the 13's with n2O. Not to mention one 3.8 that runs 12's on a 125 shot. The key is racing 95 and lower v6's cause they have the 3.4L and it is a total dog engine. Runs 18's and 17's in the 1/4.

Didn't you read the little print on the side door panel, where is says "Smoking v6's is bad for your health"?

Actually, those newer Camaro V6's are listed at 200 HP or so. They are quicker stock than earlier 5.0 (V8) Mustang GT's were (mid to late 80's early 90's), stock. Not a bad kill. You are a lot heavier.

Wow. I didn't know that bigger vehicles with bigger engines aren't allowed to race smaller vehicles with smaller engines. I am going to have a rough time finding a race.
V6's love to race. They have nothing to lose. Win= "WooHoo!" Loss= "Not bad for a V6." Better than the ferd 4.9's here that only race what they know they can beat. The same exact driver and car that rev's next to my Avenger, calls over to my Charger (and this is an exact quote) "you'd eat me alive, man. All I got is exhaust." I say, good kill! |
