Default Drove a Brand New Durango Yesterday! :)

A friend of mine let me take his brand new Durango for a drive yesterday, nice truck you guys. I liked how stable it felt, even given the terrible road conditions we are having, it handled really well. The 4-wheel drive was nice, no rear end sway when I gave it gas, even while turning. I liked the solid feel to it, the cab must be very well insulated. All leather seats, though I must say I found the heated seat a little creepy feeling. Of course I had to pop the hood, there was a 5.9 in there, which you could not hear from the cab, it was very quiet. It was a lot less responsive than my dak however, I guess because it is a heavier vehicle - especially in crummy weather you have to underdrive the dak or you could be all over the road, this was less sensitive.

Lesley, I drove my neighbors 3.9 club cab on Sunday, it had a 3.90 rear end so it wasn't too bad but I'll take that V8 any day!

Yes, you are right. I had to fix his truck, the battery had died (OEM lasted 5.5 years) and he's gone for a few more weeks so I was helping out my neighbor. His truck is filthy though. I, as you've seen by pictures of my engine, can't stand a dirty truck. The battery corrosion had worn through the battery hold down bolts, it was that bad.

Having seen many pictures of your immaculate engine bay, I can understand how that would irk you!

Yo Kevin:

Have you tried that stuff from CD2? It is FANTASTIC! It's a two part kit. The first part is a cleaner, and the second part puts on a nice shine. It also acts like Teflon. All y have ta do is hose off your engine to get it all clean and sparkly again. You get enough for to treatments.

Wow, very nice Ugg! Where do you get this, I've never heard of it. It is so hard to find stuff in Canada, I looked all over for seafoam last week, no go. Most things have to be ordered.
Nice avatar!

Lesley, NAPA carries seafoam. I'd like to help you by shipping things up there but something like seafoam might be considered HAZMAT and cost a lot for the regular guy to ship.

Ugg, Never heard of the CD2 cleaner? I'm game if it keeps my stuff clean! I'm one of those guys that would coat the underside of my truck with cooking spray before off-roading so the mud comes off easy.

I carry a small paint brush and microfiber rag and during each morning when I'm sitting at a light or idling, I clean the vents and dash...again, no dirt=good!!!

LOL!! Kevin, I do the exact same thing! I have them in my glove box, it gives me something to do in slow traffic. I also keep my Meguiar's vinyl conditioner in the back seat, and I will give everything a nice spray & wipe down if I'm in a traffic jam on the 401, good for the dak, good for the blood pressure. We have NAPA up here, I'll check that out thanks. BTW, I got my diamond clear corners this week, they look really good, but no sign yet of my fogs.

Guys:

I got the CD2 at K Mart. It's where they keep the engine cleaner stuff, and cost about $4.00 for the two can kit. It's easy to use, and takes about 20 minutes to do. Hey, you guys sound more anal than me when it comes to the D. I was like that with my 1st one, but not #3.

The Kmart here closed, wonder if they have it at Walmart? Hey, we aren't THAT anal, there is a guy on dodgedakots.com who washes the INSIDE of his tailpipe!

Lesley, I forgot to tell you I'd take that extra set of lights. Oops. Let me know when they get there and I'll send you some US greenbacks! (or paypal or something else)

Old guy..you don't know how many times I've been tempted to take my neighbors Dakota and totally detail it. He doesn't do a thing. He has the bald RT/S tires on there from 1997, 50k plus miles, no tread, never seen him wash it. It definitely needs some care.

My dash is so clean and shiny, I have to wear polarized sunglasses to see through the glare!!!!

Good to know that I am not the only obsessive compulsive in the group. I send my truck to Fine Details twice a month and usually end up re-doing the whole thing due to a few crumbs of dirt that accumulated on the truck on the drive home.

Lesley, take the 407, never any traffic!

Oh I do! Especially since it starts now at Pickering. I go to London once a month, and what a relief it is to get off the 401 and onto that nice, deserted stretch of road. (Shhhh - great place to test mods too - got up to 170 km)

Gabe:

I didn't use a thing to cover anything up. Just follow the instructions, and you'll have a sparkely clean engine. Just don't shoot the hose up the intake. Or drown the Alt.
