Question Changes to torque specs?

Okay, if the bolt tightening torque specs are for an un-modified engine, should they be increased relatively to the increase in HP following a modification?

as a general rule the torque specs. are based on the fastener being used, not the HP level. they do sometimes coincide with one another to a certain point though. for example if you change from stock rod bolts to ARP or main cap bolts to main cap studs the torque values are different. the fastener has to stretch and retain approx. 75-80 % of it's rated load in order to stay torqued (tight). adding more torque over stresses the fastener, using less torque and it will work loose.
