I am trying to find out a couple of things about the foglite circuit on a '96 1500 CC.
1: My unit came through without the switch or lamps in place. Is the harness installed?
2: What is the amperage rating for the circuit. I am planning on using aftermarket lights in the foglite wells and do not want to overheat the wiring.

Thanx in advance:
M

The wiring should already be in place. As far as the amperage rating,I'm not sure, but I've installed the Mopar fog light kit and it looks the same as any of the aftermarket kits,so it shouldn't be a problem.Have you looked at the Mopar kit?? It's VERY easy to install and you get a new headlamp switch for the fog lights, and everything just plugs in.It's a very thought out kit.

I would also bet the right harness is in place.

I actually bought PILOT lights that fit exactly in the factory holes. The kit was easy to install, came with great heavy duty wiring and saved me big time over what the MOPAR guys charge for the same looking lights.

Just my .02

Good luck on your project.

Just something to add on this subject, I got what looks like a recall notice in the mail yesterday that talks about this. It talks about adding after market lights and harnesses. I do not know if the after market stuff comes with a relay or not but the notice I guess is to cover their butts. Has anyone else got this notice?

Yes I received the same notice in the mail. All it amounts too is notifying people that might install aftermaket lights on their RAMs to not wire them directly to the headlight switch. Use a relay if aftermarket lights are installed. This is just good common sense when it comes to electrical work.
