Torsion Bar Help
I hate to plead ignorant but I hope ya'll can steer me in the right direction.
I a trying to help some guys here get a street stock ready. We have a 70-72 Duster the cage was in it when they bought it, it looks a little heavy but aside from that not too bad. Someone put it togather and then lost intrest. The car will have to weigh 3300 lb with driver after race. We will have a 360 and 4 speed, running on dirt with high banks( P.I.R ) The torsion bars that are in there now are 36" x 7/8". I don't know what that translates to in sping rate or if it is close to what we want in the car. Anyhelp would be apreciated. |

Sounds small to me, 1.04 or 1.09 would be better. The steeper the banks the more bar is needed. You will also need to beef up the rear to match the front, 175 to 200lbs will get you in the ball park. Stock rears are around 125lbs, too light, rear will rise and transfer too much weight to the front on entry.
