Default HEMI 4spd A-body trans in E-body?

Hi all, I have osmeone that is trying to sell me a Hemi 4-sod trans from an A-body. I have been looking fora hemi 4 spd trans, but I need one for an E-body. I doubt it would work but is here any way that the a-body trans would work in the e-body? The only problem I think there would be is the shifter mounting location. It looks too for forward on the A-body trans. Let me know if it'd work.
Thanks

if its an 833 tranny, it should fit, but there may be some linkage problems (not sure about this) you should get the part number on the tranny, and post it here, or look it up. just to be on the safe side.

The A body trans tailshaft is quite abit shorter than the B/E body trans. Also, as you said, the shifter mounting pad is much futher forward. The " HEMI" 4spds were the 18 spline units out of the trucks- that was basically the only differance. A 23 spline will hold up just fine unless you doing some seriously hard shifting with a really bada$$ motor- even then I think you would have a hard time breaking the 23 spline unit.

Mine is out of the car right now so if you want some measurements let me know. I don't think a 18 spline came in an A car. Also I think all 833 are the same size. I think.

No it doesnt work because as you said the shifter mount is too far forward,it ridiculous to even try to make it work, believe it or not I just pulled an a body hemi 4 spd out of a 71 Cuda 426 hemi convertible clone and this farmer apparently had too much steel around and not enough brains,he cobbled it up and was proud of it !!!!! the shifter mounting bar was 24" long and the trans rested on it instead of the crossmember! and it vibrated like a combine !!!!!!!! WHAT A GOOF!!!!! stick to the e or b body,....PRO...

The HEMI A-833 is an 18 spline unit. The other A-833's are are 23 spline. The trannys came in 2 lengths. Long for B & E bodys, short for A & I think F bodys.
Use the proper size tranny and save yourself a headache!!!!
