Question 70-76 A body 2.5" chrome exh tips?

What are you guys using on your Duster,Darts,Demons and Dart Sports with 2.5" tailpipes.? Are you cutting the original style back some to get rid of the small end, using TTI's,68-70 B-bodies which have a bigger diameter or something else? Does someone make the originals in 2.5"? Going to put 2.5" tailpipes on the car and want to put chrome tips back on the car cause it came with them originally.

I'm pretty sure your on your own there. You may get lucky with Paddockparts.com or with Year One, but I'm doubtful. Mine has dumps in front of the axle. I'm looking for the angled oval for in front of the tire in a 3". Later,

Hey Greg!

I'm running 3 inch exhaust to the rear and still have the original chrome tips that came on the car. I had the muffler shop cut them back a little with a very small expansion and they fit real nice. Good luck!

I finished the new motor and finally have it in the car. Hows the 318 build up going?

I just loooked at my Paddock catalog and they have the chrome tips that go on A-Bodys. I think they're pretty pricey, so I hope you have your old ones.

Hey Gary,
Mine didn't have any tips originally, it was a/6. I was lloking for the ones like on Matchbox with the elongated ovals for the side of the car. Does Paddock have any 2.5" tips to help My340. When are you going to email me some photos and details to post on my website? Sorry, My340, not trying to change topics.

I'm pretty sure Mancini Racing was selling tips with optional size to 2.5" and stainless also.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. Yeah Ive got dumps at the axles too but I just like that factory look better. With 2.5 exhaust and ultraflows I don't think the tailpipes will really be restrictive for my street only car.It seems like cutting back on a set of originals or repro's may be the best way to go. I think Mancini sells the TTI's and I'm not sure they look like original for A bodies. Anybody have and a pic they can post? Accurate sells for 68-70 Darts but they look shorter to me and have a taper to them.

Had 2 1\2" installed all the way on a 72 340 Duster, the muffler shop installed a set of Mopar chrome tips for $40.00 and they look better than the $125 + $30 install on the TTIs on the 74 Duster. If interested can contact the shop to have them send you a pair.

Sorry about the delay in answering you post about the tips. Don't have the ability to send a picture, I have a 72 340 Duster that just came back from the paint shop will finish it up next week. The 340 Space Duster is the perfect car for me, keep me in mind just in case!!!!!!
