Default Just to make sure im building my engine right!!!

Ok, well im a newbie at building engines so thats why i opted for the 10-1 shortblock, heres how my engine build is going!!

-Mopar 360 10-1 Shortblock
-Edelbrock Performer RPM heads
-Arp head Bolts
-Fel-Pro .054 headgaskets for the heads
-Holley 770CFM Street Avenger
-Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
-Hooker Competition Headers
-Offset Aircleaner Base
-K&N Filter and Extreme flow top
-Plan on using stock starter(actually heavy duty replacement), water pump, etc they work fine.

Im ordering a DUI Ignition and Mopar performance valve covers, and a higher volume fuel pump(suggestions?) is there anything else i need?? Can i use my stock rocker arms and shafts?? Does this come with lifters??

Oh one more thing can i use my msd wires with the DUI ignition?

to answer you in order;

A higher feul pump can be had from Carter. Look in a Summit racingmag or Summitracing.com on line.

You can use stock rockers and shafts, I am doing it now.

It does not come with liffters. (Rip offff! Should have put them in a box inside the create!)

The DUI is a GM style distrib. HEI wires should be used. Get the wire ends from Summit/Jegs that are made from MSD and switch them over. It'll just fit better. The'll plug in i believe.

The MoPar Performance valve covers ethier need a thicker gasket because the ones that come with it aren't going to keep the cover from hitting the intake.
OR the other thing you can do is take a grinder to the edge that hits the intake.
5 min's and a wipe down, and your done.

ALSO, check out the shortblock to make sure that the bearings are the proper size for the crank and rods. Look it over well before installing. Some stories have surfaced of weird happenings with bearings.

Sounds good, let us know how it runs

rumblefish360 covered just about everything else (I thought they came with lifters?)

I think the 360 short block is still externally ballanced and requires the offset ballanced torque converter or the B&M flexplate, and the drivers side motor mount may be slightly off if you use the 318 motormount bracket.

hmm, thanks for all the help guys, one more thing, how much HP do you think i would be making??

What kind of lifters should i get? I have a set of comp cams lifters that i was going to use on my old engine with a extreme energy camshaft(took it back), so would the comp cam ones work?? Or should i get the dodge ones from the dealership??

Thanks jimm;

78Red Ex. The liffters you have from Comp are Hyd. right? If they are, which I beleive the are, there good for use in the short block. Comp makes good products.

That 318 mount is a pain and wont do you right. Contact http://www.engine-swaps.com/ for proper 340/360 mounts.

Keep your exhaust flowing. Good mufflers are need to help this baby breath.
HP? You should be knockin out 400+ HP easy.
I wish I had the specs as of when the purple cams events take place. Not a general idea the computer sets up when you don't know.

Ya it would! Jimms451 mentioned 318 motor mounts. Gave you the link just incase you had a 318 in there first. Figured it couldnt hurt.

Good point with grinding the valve covers. I made a pretty big oil mess the first time i used them. (was in a rush)

Thanks cudacarl.

78 Red Express; 13's shouldn't be hard to do. Biggest problem you have is the truck is a brick going through the air. That can be tuff. Weight is the next concern.
Of course the stall and gears have a say in this as well. I think you'll do it.
