I have been looking for a mid 70s Dodge Power Wagon truck.
I responded to an ad in the paper for one for sale. Upon inspecting the truck, things didn't add up. The body from a plain Dodge pickup. A 150 'Adventurer'. But the chassis was ultra heavy duty Power Wagon.
The truck was a absolute peice of junk!
Nothing worked right. It was a nightmare to drive. I questioned the guy about the mismatched body and he admitted that the truck was a home brew. But the chassis was a Dodge power wagon that had a badly rusted out body.
A good looking Power Wagon for $1800. I knew it was too good to be true.
How hard is it to find an original Power Wagon in good shape?

I think it kind of depends on what your idea of good shape is. I recently sold a 74 Power Wagon, 360 4 speed, some rust and dings, high miles, for $850, what I thought to be a fair price. Judging by the number of calls I got on it, it must have been.

The only other 4x4 I ever owned was a '89 full size Bronco XLT. That was a pitiful excuse for a 4x4. It got so I was afraid to take it off road. I finally sold it.
My dad had a '72 or'73 PowerWagon. It was a 360 4bbl automatic. That thing was unstoppable! There was nothing it couldn't pull and nothing it couldn't plow through. That is what I judge a 4x4 truck by and most of the time others fall short.

Have you tried www.traderonline.com ? You can search the entire US or narrow it down to just your area.

Just a thought . . .

Ive got 5500 in it now I built the motor and will repaint it soon but it still looks good,my problem is I hate payments.Keep looking you'll find the right truck,..someday..PRO...

I will keep looking and I plan to pay CASH for it. I have made my last car payment on the last Ford I owned. The only think is that 4x4 go for a premium here. A rusted out junky looking 4x4 that is in good mechnical condition is still $3000 from a private owner. From a car lot its $5000. A dealer always has them way over priced. I clean 4x4 HD equipped 4x4 will be $8000 and up even thought it over 20 years old!
