speedometer cable for autometer speedo
i have installed autometer gauges in my '68 dart. i need a speedometer cable that has a screw on end for the trans and the speedometer itself(5/8X18, .104 sq. male end, according to the autometer website).
my question is: does anybody know if i can get a cable for some other model of car that will work for me? any info would be greatly appreciated. my dash now looks first rate but i have no speedo thank you. |

'68 was the first year for the plastic push on speedo cable. '66 and '67 still have the 5/8" threaded speedo end and the proper 7/8" threaded end at the trans. '65 and earlier cables aren't threaded at the trans end.
So, any '66 or '67 cable of the proper length will work with your AutoMeter. I'd try one from an A or B body. |

got two
I run a autometer speedo in both my cars all I did was get an older chevy speedo cable + if you get pliers + heat the end with the cable out then slide it off and slide it on your cable while still hot after you take your old end off you can use your stock cable just have a new end I have run it for 8 years no problem in 50000 miles.
