Default Cetane Boosters

Anyone use any fuel additives that are worth buying? I've been told that the Amsoil Cetane Booster works. Anyone with experience with this product? Here's a link to the website:

Default I reccomend..

Power Service, Redline or Howes because they boost cetane, lube the injection pump, lower the gel temperature, and increase mileage a little. Not sure that Amsoil stuff does all four, but read the label first.

I prefer Lubrication Engineers DCI+. I have tried quite a few (Stanadyne, Power Service, Howes MPC) and this is the one that I prefer.

Be careful, if you are looking for a cetane improver some of the Power Service and Howes do not contain a cetane improver.

Thumbs up I would consider.....

My father and brother have used powerservice forever it seems like, and never had a doubt about it. I have used all the others that have been mention, i would stick with the powerservice. CumminsRam is right though, watch the labels for powerservice.

Cetane is to diesel like octane is to gasoline,,Cetane alone will help the overall performance of the truck but do not overdo it,,There are many additives now boasting cetane improvers just be wary of how much you add,,Along with that I'll also add that you use a good top end cylinder lubricant regularly while using additives(such as Howes,Stanadyne,Red Line,Powerservice, etc, etc) due to the additives thinning the fuel and lowering its lubricating capabilities,,The 24 valvers, because of their electronic VP44 pumps are more known to have lift and pump failures due to excessive wear because of this,,Just something to think about....

I have had experiences with grades from 40, 42 and 45. I have had BETTER mileage numbers with the 40 in my 98 24v with a fully equipped camper atop the bed.
