Question 440 into 1983 Diplomat

this summer, plans are coming together to stuff a 440 under the hood of my diplomat. I went to schuacher, they have the mounting kit for $150, and a friend of mine would help me out with this (all he does all day is restore and build mopars) With this mounting kit, will things clear properly? and, how much HP does a stock 440 have? Is it gonna kick the hell outta my 318 which is pretty much stock right now?

Thanks, Paul

The Schumacher mounts are primo! I used them to put a 340 onto my '64 Barracuda, and I couldn't be happier. This is how Chrysler would have made this stuff. They look and fit like a factory engineered part.

Thumbs up HELL YEAH!!

Well, it sure beats my 360 in my 865th Ave!
You need to be more specific on what year 440 you are gonna use because every year they de-tuned it and rated them less and less each year.

The only issue I have come across that I don't like is hood clearance. I have a 440 Volare and I had a 400 5th ave.
The 440 with Torker 2 is a tight squeeze. I made a custon 4" drop base air cleaner. I regret not taking pictures. The Volare has had a BB in it since the early 80's. Go to www.geocities.com/indychamp

I was thinking about big block a long time ago but gas mileage and lack of parts around here quickly changed my mind. I'm happy enough with my 4bbl 360 And if it'll kick the pants off the stock 318 a BB definately will.

Default Hey Glen440

You got underhood pics of that 400 5th Ave? I've had that webpage link for a while. Lots of good info there. - RR
