Default Aluminum/aftermarket main caps?

Muscle Motors recommends these for my application, butI seem to remember hearing negative opinions of these on a street driven car. I am building a 496 cube, 650 or so HP 440, and am currently planning on using billet steel main caps recommended by MM as an alternative to the aluminum caps, and main studs. Also, MM does NOT recommend any type of aftermarket 4 bolt setup on the factory block. Anyone have comments or suggestions regarding aftermarket mains?

Default main caps

sounds like you are buying MM's stroker kit. If that is the case, I would go with what they recommend.

I think at 650 HP you can use either main caps.
The machining for the pro-gram 4-bolt type caps is more expensive than for the aluminum caps.
I believe the aluminum caps have a steel dowl in them that helps keep the bearing shell from spinning, but you need to drill the bearings to match?

451, do you know which are stronger? I was concerned about the aluminum not holding up long term, in a street used vehicle. They are both around the same cost $450-$550 bucks installed.

I have never used them, so I don't know.
If you want a second opinion, not just from Muscle Motors, call Koffels place or Hughes Engines.

A Note on these shops;
Muscle Motors and Koffels Place, I have gotten alot of help from them over the phone.
Hughes Engines, I like the Engle cams, but their phone tech support really lacks.

Default Aluminum Main Caps

I actually am just getting a set installed on my block as we speak. Im ARP studs and aluminum main caps. They are supposed to be better with high horse apps or high RPM app's, the reasoning behind the aluminum caps is they can abosrb more shock and pounding from high rpm or high horse before they break like a stock cap, they also help cap walk when it pounds away on the main caps.
Should work good for the destroker blower motor in progress.
Also aluminum main caps are used in top fuel cars, funny cars and really high horse apps over billet steel? so thats enough reasoning for me.
