Question Are 1993 to 2002 Mopar Gen 3 seatbelts, unsafe?

I just read this disturbing report on ABCnews.go.com. Apparently on certain 93 thru 2002 Mopar vehicles, there are reports of seat belts , The Mopar Gen 3 style, becoming disconnected! The website address for the report is:

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/p...ts_020307.html

While the list of vehicles affected are:

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/p...ts_020307.html

The 2nd list is especially unsettling, because it's basically every vehicle that Chrysler Corp. has built since 1993 except Cloud Cars (Cirrus-Stratus-Breeze) and Neons! I own a 2000 Grand Caravan myself that I and my family use constantly, am I putting my children in an unsafe vehicle and situation? Tomorrow, I'm going to examine my belts closely, and if anyone else has any info to add, it would be deeply appreciated!

About two weeks ago, a friend of mine, an off duty police officer, was involved in an accident in his Dodge Ram. He was ejected from the truck and killed after a 17 year old kid ran a stopsign and struck the right rear of the truck, knocking it off the road and onto it's top. The officer's wife and daughter were injured, and the wife will be in a neck brace for some time to come. The Doctor in th E.R. was a local surgeon that my wife works for. He told me that Mike's body had bruising consistant with the use of a lap belt and shoulder belt, and in his opinion Mike was wearing his safety belt. Mike's wife has also stated that he had his belt on. Icertainly intend to pass copies of these articles on to her. Thanks for the heads up Stoga!
