Question

The shop labor rates in the St. Louis are upwards of $70./hr. Just wondering about the rest of the country and Canada?

The local GM dealer is $100.00, and the Dodge is $80.00.

$55.00 to $60.00 here in Jacksonville. When I started in this buisiness back in 1983,the labor rates were $32.00.The bad thing about the labor rates is that the mechanics flat rate pay hasn't moved up the same percentage.

Thumbs up

You hit the nail on the head Christopher, most would be more inclined to pay it if the incentive was there for the mechanic!

Thumbs down

Got a set of GM brake drums, 31/2 x 13, full floating axle. The local GM dealer just quoted me $149.00 to turn them, and that's if I remove them from the truck!

Local shop, $20.00 a piece.
