[/QUOTE WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY REAL TROUBLE OUT OF EITHER. THE TRANS IS A VERY GOOD TRANS & WILL HANDLE THE TORQUE. THE 4.7 MHAS BETTER LOW END TORQUE THAN THE 318 BUT WILL IT LAST AS LONG AS A 318 I DOUBT IT. GOOD LUCK THEY ARE GOOD LOOKING TRUCKS

DC started using this trans last year in the Grand Cherokee as a test bed. Have not seen any complaints about it. We did replace one but it was bad from the start. Sounds like if it holds up good they will start putting versions of it in the full size truck. I'm in western AZ and the summer temps can reach 130 so we see our share of trans probs.

I help build that trannyhere in Kokomo. Our test equipment here is vary good. From what I know we get few returnes. Atleast compared to down the road where all the other trannys are built. The mags that I have personaly read that test the 4.7L and 45RFE say it is one of the best combonations out. I have also heard around town that our local dealerships have few brought in for tranny problems. If your still unsure wait a few years. reality is that this is a brand new transmission and it has not had time to really prove its self. Not sure if it will go in the rams. there is a new tranny in the makeing that will possably go in the rams with the replacement for the 5.9L. But this is just talk.

The internals (clutches and planetaries) of the 45rfe look a whole lot like 604/606 pieces only increased in size about 40%. Like he says only time will tell for sure. They are doing good so far.
