Default It wont start

ok my 72 duster has not been started for about 3-4 months, i just installed the msd 6al, blaster coil, timing dail, and plug wires, and pro billet dist, it cranks and i get spark to the dist from the coil, it wont start, the whole thing is that the wires took a beaten and may be no good, i tested them all with a test light, andsome lite the light more than others, i dont think they are good, but could it be the plugs that are causeing it not to start, they didnt look fouled, any help of comments would be great,
thanks, joe

#1 Compression
#2 Fuel
#3 Spark

These are the only 3 things that an engine needs to start, get these 3 fixed and if doesn't start we can help you fine tune it.

I could list 35 things right now as to why it won't start but, it be wasted bandwidth unless you have the basics in order.

Key???
I tried that this weekend, I turned and turned and nothing happened at all....dead?

Then I took my little white pill....turned on the power switch on the rear bumper, flipped the Ign., Water pump, fuel pump and #1 fan switch on and hit the starter toggle......Vroooom.... she fired right up....still can't remember why that key still hangs in the ignition switch?

Default backwards

like cuda said, it could be many things causing this problem. but since we're dealing with this situation of installing these new products and you are getting spark to the dist. maybe the spark is getting there at the wrong time. really make sure the dist. is installed corectly. place #1 cylinder piston tdc on the comp stroke then look at the rotor cap for positioning to #1 wire. this is easy to do. even with bad wires the engine should try to kick over. squirt fuel into intake to make sure you are getting fuel. if so check the dist.

I hate to say it, but you should have made sure that it ran, before you went and changed so many things at once.

Check the simple stuff first. Are you actually getting fuel to the carb??

The next most obvious thing is to check the initial timing, since you did replace the distributor. Also make sure that you connected all of the plug wires back in the correct order.

It is common too sometimes install the distributor 180 degrees off. It sounds kind of like your timing is off. Try turning your distributor until you get it to fire. When I first started my rebuilt engine I had to play around with the distributor until she fired right. Keep it simple unless it is a problem that was larger than what you thought.

Check the reluctor air gap. I had a no start problem with my truck when I put the MSD in it. I tightened up the air gap. and it runs great. Just an idea
