Default Rough running '82 Cordoba

About 3 weeks ago my '82 Cordoba 318 2bbl Lean Burn started to buck and miss erraticaly under load. Starts great but runs poor. Have put in new plugs, cap and rotor, and today, a rebuilt dual pickup distributor. No help. New computor about 20,000 miles ago and plug wires right after that. The harder I step on it, the worse it misses. Help???

first check your timing,then your wires,I always do my wires at least once a year(10,000) if that doestn help,slap a vaccum gauge on there and see how she reads,but I will bet the carb is out of wack,try running some gumout thru her...

I'd replace the coil. Sounds like weak spark.

My 81 Cordoba did that so I rebuilt the carb. It runs better but I think it loaded the plugs up and now they need replaced again. I'll get around to it soon I guess. Don't drive it but once a month or so. Waiting on better weather.

Default Rough running Corcoba

Hi, you gys, thanks for the responses. I did rebuild the carburator a couple years ago, and it has performed well up till about 3 weeks ago. I also replaced the wires back then. I guess I'll try a known good coil first, then spring for a set of wires.
I've got a '74 Club Cab 318 that I bought new and it has the original factory "Mopar" wires yet and runs like a fine watch!
The Cordoba was running on 4 cylinders for a while this morning, causing some doubt about my arrival at work. -2 degrees here this morning, worse predicted tomorrow. Will try to fix on Saturday. Thanks again. Paul H

Default It's fixed!!

Hey, Freak007;

IF took the coil off of my '74 Club Cab this morning, tried it on the Cordoba, and it still bucked and jerked. Hooked up the original, drove down to Car Quest and sprang for the good wire set. Installed the new wires and Shaaazzaammm!! It goes like a scalded cat, now! And smoothly, too. Wish I had done that first. Oh, well, it's only money!

Thanks for the help, guys. Paul H

Post paul h/cordoba!

hey paul!-some things you might want to check are (1)-moisture in or around the plugins on your lean burn unit.(2)-if you have the vacumn advance hose that attaches to the lean burn unit,spraying wd40 into the hoses may cure it if it is another moisture related problem.(3)-you may have a stuck valve or a worn lobe on your cam,which would enplain why the engine misses more under increased load. if you really suspect the lean burn unit ,it might be wise to replace it with an earlier vacumn advance timer. i hope this is of some help to you!

Cool My 78 volare had that issue.

So after I replaced everything else in the ignition system I went to the local dealer and ordered the electrtonic ignition wiring harness. Then went to autozone and picked up a cheap wells ing box. I unhooked the Lean burn and fattend up the mix, advanced the distributor, and let her roll. Until i could afford the vaccum advance distributor now smoother starts and good power. Oh yeah any good auto manual should have wiring diagrams that you can follow for your setup.

hope this helps.
