Thumbs up

After owning a '95 RAM CC SLT Sport 4x4 with the 360, K&N FIPK, and Flowmaster Duals, and then a 1999 Durango 5.2 4X2, I bought a loaded 2000 patriot blue Dakota SLT 4x2 with the 4.7. I didn't really like the 4x2's until the started putting the 255's on them. The dealership threw in Flowmaster duals and MOPAR bedrails for a beautiful rig. I believe this is the fastest vehicle I have ever owned. The sound of the exhaust is music to my ears and I am constantly wiping the toothless grin off new Chevy owners who can't believe they have just been smoked by a roaring mid-size . I would like to know three things...
1. At what MPH is the governor set, and can this be defeated?
2. Will the wheel wells hold 275's (I have 15x8 inch rims)?
3. Does K&N make a Gen. II for the new 4.7 yet. The intake seems to be an unusual arrangement compared to the 318 or the 360.

Congrats on the purchase of what should prove to be a fine vehicle!!!

(1) the Gov is probably set like the rams at right around 100 mph, a MP computer will reset it, but they dont make em for 2000s yet

(2) 275s will fit on an 8" rim, no prob, Ive done it before...

(3) on the air cleaner, if the area where the intake "box" sits on top of the TB is 5 1/8" in diameter, then yes the K&N should fit, its that size.

hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info. I did notice it shutting down @ about 100mph when it was just about to downshift and kick in. I had PLENTY of power and control left. The air intake, however, seems to be vertical instead of horizontal like on the older engines. It appears to face forward like a scoop.

ahhhh yess... now that you mention it, I do remember seeing a pic of one with that TB facing forward... so it probably wont fit regardless...

Cool

I own a 2000 4x4 with the 4.7 and have had it up to 200 km/hr (125 mph). The governor still hadn't kicked in, so I know it's more than 100 mph.

Cool

My engine shuts down @ 100mph. They must not govern the Canadian models. I knew it had potential for alot more; I wonder what an ungoverned 4X2 will do?

Cool

I'm hoping this weekend to find out where the governor cuts in at. The 100 mph cut off is good to know when I'm on vacation in the US this summer.
