Which would sound better?
I have a hatchback car with 2 12" subs faceing the back of the car. Would it sound better faceing forward or faceing the back like it is?

AH the age old delemma
the only way is to try it disconnect the amp on the top of the box(just a guess) make sure the wires are long enuf spin it up spin it front spin it down-with spacers in my 84 rustang my 10's sounded best pointed back, not much difference from up my 96 cavalier-into the trunk, and I tried front,up and back what kind of box-sealed,ported,bandpass just a guess-you have the amps on top of the box in direct sunlight with no tint just reading your post on heat probably wrong, but it would be a good guess if I was right |

probably
should be mounded so it(they) fire and rebound off the glass then forward otherwise , firing straight forward with your hatchback and all to avoid un natural harmonics(heh heh)sure yea i can see it sounding better firing straight forward so the waves dont start canceling by getting caught up in that pocket formed by the angled glass in your hatchback

Their are in a ported box, (the only box required for the subs) Personaly I like sealed better than ported. I have not tried bandpass. As far as the amps mounted on top of the box,
you are are right, but only half way right, I have tint and louvers on the back glass and it blocks all sunlight lol. |
