Question 69 Drum to Disc...

I want to convert my 69 Dart GT to front discs but I am not sure which parts I'll need. It is a V-8 car so I am assuming I won't need to change the K-Member but any help with what to do/get/buy/change would be greatly appreciated.

Default Been there, done that

I did the same thing to my 69 dart custom.

like any late swap, you need spindles, calipers, caliper brackets, rotors, pads, master cylinder, proportioning valve and hoses from a 73 to 76 A body.(assuming your switching to big bolt at the same time)

Lower control arms and cross member stay the same.

Only difference with the early A body, is you need to change the upper control arms too. (I think thats because of the size difference in the ball joints, not sure but I do know you have to do it.)

It's fairly easy. I also put 11" drums on the rear of mine at the same time, found it braked well, with well ballanced proportioning to all the wheels.

The only problem I had, was that I used the spindles, with the calipers in front of the wheel. They interfered with the stabilizer bar. Easily resolved by using shorter link kits, so the bar wasn't in the way of the caliper.

If your going to do it with small bolt stuff, you have to find a small bolt car, and get spindles, calipers, hoses, master cyl, prop valve, off of it and install. Good luck finding the stuff though.

Hey dart, I have a great article on this swap complete with part numbers and everything you could ever want to know.

I have it on computer, so if you give me your email, I will get it out to you.

Good luck, and by all means, be careful doing this swap. It is real important to get the right parts.
