what is Double Clutching?
i was woundering what double clutching means what is the advantage of it? thanks

Well what I remember iis in the old days (1920's) befor syncros trannys had straight cut gears you had to double clutch to get the gears spinning at the same speed.
This was done by: getting up to speed in first or second, shift into neutral, spin up the engine to match the speed that the tranny WILL be in when you shift it into 2nd or 3rd now you push on the clutch a second time to let the gaers slow down to match the engine speed. It sounds worse than it is. Most british cars had this up to the 1950s It isn't hader to do but it is hard on the tranny. |
